Anna Lusty grew up with choral music in her blood — quite literally, as Head Chorister of York Minster Choir, singing daily services and concerts in one of England's great cathedrals. That early grounding in ensemble singing has shaped everything since.
She studied at the Royal Academy of Music, earning a Bachelor of Music and an instrumental diploma (LRAM), and has since built a career spanning ten years in music education alongside freelance work as a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and viola/violin player.
With a deep fascination for the journey of making music together — how groups find their sound, how collective energy builds and shifts — she wanted to expand on this and pursue the path she had secretly always wanted to try: working with voices.
Anna recently completed her pre-master year in choir directing at HKU Utrecht, including directing the St Matthew Passion with Koorlab Zutphen in the Domkerk Utrecht alongside fellow conducting students. She is currently choir director of Cantatekoor Wageningen (since 2026) and directs the project choir at Torenpleinkerk Vleuten (since 2024).
Her conducting experience spans community and amateur ensembles, including as a Rock Choir leader (Rock Choir UK) and in collaboration with the Benslow Music charity for late-starter string players. She continues to perform as a singer with project choirs including Baroque Ensemble Amsterdam, Brabantkoor, and Ariosto Ensemble — keeping her own musicianship sharp alongside her conducting practice.
Anna lives in Houten, near Utrecht, and is available for guest conducting, workshops, and long-term artistic leadership roles.

Cantatekoor Wageningen began as a Christian church choir, performing primarily motets and cantatas in its early years. We still sing a great deal of sacred music — requiems among them — but our repertoire has grown far broader. We perform works by well-known composers such as Brahms, Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Handel, alongside lesser-known names like Charpentier, Distler, Hollanders, and Palmeri, as well as bringing modern works by Goodall and Chilcott to the stage.
Upcoming work includes projects with Torenpleinkerk cantorij, Vleuten, and Marekerk cantorij, De Meern.
